Instructor Bio

Mona Clayton spent her career as a forensic accountant and partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.  Mona led global investigations dealing with financial statement fraud, corruption and bribery, asset misappropriation and compliance matters.  She helped grow and establish PwC's forensic accounting practice in Brazil and other countries in Latin America.  Sheis a co-author of A Guide to Forensic Accounting Investigation which has been used by many colleges and universities.  Mona has taught courses and lectured on topics of Fraud and Forensic Accounting at the under-graduate and graduate levels in Indianapolis, Chicago, Miami, São Paulo and Mexico City.  She has trained clients and professionals throughout Latin America and the United States as well as in Canada, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Austria.  When she isn't helping her family, she loves international travel, applying Master Gardener knowledge and unraveling genealogy mysteries for family and clients.  She speaks Portuguese, which may be getting a little rusty.

Course Objectives

Understand common internal fraud schemes as well as basics of the flow of financial information. 

Attendees will learn the basics of simple financial statements, some accounting terms, and dive into various asset misappropriation schemes such as embezzlement of accounts receivable, fraudulent disbursements and inventory schemes. 


NOTE:  It is highly recommended to bring a laptop or e-tablet for some in class activities.
