Instructor Bio

Paul Mendofik, Lieutenant (Retired)Paul is retired from the Pennsylvania State Police. His law enforcement career has spanned more than twenty-eight years. In addition to his service with the State Police, he served with local police agencies, as a school police officer and at the PA State Capitol. Paul has served in a wide variety of assignments. Acting in both operations and supervisory capacities, he has directed resources and personnel in the planning for and resolution of numerous crisis events. Other duties have included the enforcement, investigation and prosecution of all violations of the law, the creation of contingency plans, integration of multi-agency interoperability plans, high-risk incident resolution, raid planning and execution, operational evaluations and officer-survival.

Paul has operational experience and training in preparation and response to potentially lethal events, including terrorism. He developed a tiered program to address and prepare multidiscipline response to school violence and other harmful events at vulnerable sites. He has provided consultation, training and simulation exercises at a variety of agencies and organizations in the United States and Canada. His work has involved him with all levels of the governmental structure and with several terrorism task forces.

Paul's experience with simulation exercises began in the early 1990ís. He is a certified practitioner of the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) and has also completed the requirements to become a trainer for HSEEP. His additional certifications include being a volunteer instructor for the American Red Cross and a former National Rifle Association Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor (pistol, shotgun and patrol rifle).

Paul has completed NIMS training, inclusive of the 400 level, is a graduate of Northwestern University, School of Police Staff and Command; Penn State University, Police Executive Development and holds a degree from Penn State.

He is an accomplished author in national periodicals and for various web-based newsletters. His memberships include the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association, the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation and the Knights of Columbus.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
